Our Beliefs

“But God will never forget the needy;
    the hope of the afflicted will never perish.”  Psalm 9:18

This psalm is at the core of our mission and beliefs at Hope 918. We believe God chose to show His care and inspire hope for the world through the Church and community of believers. We are the “body of Christ,” the hands and feet of Jesus, called to “love our neighbors as ourselves” (1 Corinthians 12, Galatians 5:13-14). We believe men and women are equally valued by God and reflective of His image.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27

Where our culture often oppresses, devalues, or objectifies women, God shows His care for women over and over again in His Word and through Jesus’ ministry. Below are just a few examples from scripture.

John 4: Jesus reaches out to the Samaritan woman despite being a Jewish man who culturally would never speak to a Samaritan, especially a Samaritan woman.

Luke 10:40-42 Jesus is teaching Mary and Martha.

Luke 8:43-48 Jesus stops what He is doing when a woman who was “unclean” touches him and is healed. He calls her “daughter.”

John 20:1-18 Women are the first to bear witness to the reality of the risen Lord Jesus.

We want to remember the women in our community who are in need of love and support and reignite their hope when they are in the darkest of places.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

Born of the Virgin Mary;

Suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, dead and buried;

He descended into Hades;

The third day he rose from the dead;

He ascended into heaven;

and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit;

the holy catholic Church;

the communion of saints;

the forgiveness of sins;

the resurrection of the body;

and the life everlasting. Amen.
